  3. 0 Delirium and dementia • Delirium: Disturbance of consciousness and change in cognition; acute onset. Ability to focus, shift, or sustain attention is impaired. May experience misperceptions, illusions, or hallucinations. • Dementia: Multiple cognitive deficits, including impaired memory (DSM-IV)
