Defining "Occult" • From the Latin word “occultus” it means:“things hidden”, “things in darkness”, “things left unrevealed”, “the practices of sorcery and divination”. • The Occult includes:- Witchcraft & Wicca- Psychics/Tarot/Fortune telling Astrology/Numerology/Palmistry- Sorcery/Spells/Incantations- Satanism- The mystic practices of the New Age Movement

  4. "Nine Forbidden Practices" • Each are highlighted in chapters of the book...

The Occult EXPLOSION The Church must unify and vigorously stand against New Age, neopagan occultism! * 70% of those turning to witchcraft claim they were raised in “Christian” homes.(Drawing Down the Moon, Margot Adler) * 75% of those turning to the New Age Movement claim they were raised in “Christian” homes. (Gallup Poll, 1987)

  9. Here are some points in dealing with the occult influences around us...

  10. 1) PREVIEW - Whether its video games, books, cartoons, TV shows or movies, get involved and find out what your kids are tempted by or drawn to. This information will assist you greatly as you pray and do warfare for your kids’ souls.

  11. 2) COMMUNICATE - Don’t just tell your kids something is wrong - explain why. USE SCRIPTURE! It IS the final authority!

  12. 3) PRAY - Not only pray for your kids but when their friends are drawn to evil influences, lead your kids in prayer that those influences are bound and broken in the lives of others. i.e., SPIRITUAL WARFARE.

  13. 4) DEVELOP - Through PREVIEWING, PRAYING & COMMUNICATING you help kids develop a godly decision-making process FOR LIFE about... - Entertainment - School - Media - Culture - Friends (peer-pressure)

  14. 5) REST & TRUST -That God is on the throne!

  15. 6) RECEIVE -God’s grace for the past. (Rom. 8:1)

  16. 7) ACTION - For the future. (Phil. 3:13)
