  6. BestCore™ Series: R18 The BestCore™ retrofit series is designed to retrofit almost any exterior commercial grade fixture or some interior fixtures. It is designed to retrofit traditional HID parking lot lights, site lighting, gas station lighting, parking garage lighting, warehouse lighting, and many more. The compact, durable design allows it to fit in to almost any existing fixture. The R18 can replace traditional lighting sources from 100w – 150w. • 18 Philips Lumileds Luxeon® Rebel LEDs • 22 watts • Total Lumens: 1,856 • Lumens per watt: 85.35 LM/W • Correlated Color Temperature (CCT): 5000K (other options available) • Input voltages: 100-277v (50-60 Hz) up to 480v available • Suitable for outdoor temperatures of -40˚F (-40˚C) to 122˚F (50˚C) • CRI: 70

  7. Best LED Lighting’spartnership with • World’s leading manufacturer of high-power LEDs • Pioneer in using LEDs for everyday purposes • On the forefront on emerging technology in LED • Global leader in RoHS compliant product introduction

  8. LUXEON Rebel • Superior Color rendering • Leading color consistency and uniformity of light • Exceeds ENERGY STAR® lumen maintenance requirements • LED maximum junction temperature = 135˚C

  9. Philips Lumileds LUXEON Rebel LM-80 data

  10. Why LED? • Energy Efficient, up to 90% more efficient than traditional lighting sources • Long life span, up to 100,000 hours • Variety of color options • Low operation costs • No UV radiation • No mercury • Instant on, no start-up time • Silent operation • Reduces “Carbon Footprint” It’s GREEN

  11. Carbon Footprint: facts in evidence • Energy consumption for all lighting in the U.S. is estimated to be 22% of the total electricity generated. • If every U.S. home replaced their 5 most frequently used light fixtures with LED lighting, we would save close to $8 billion per year in energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to that produced by 10 million cars. • If just 25% of U.S. lighting fixtures were converted to LEDs, we would save $115 billion in utility costs, alleviate the need • to build 133 new coal-burning power stations; reduce carbon emission by 158 million metric tons and avoid releasing 5,700 pounds of airborne mercury (from fluorescent) per year.

  12. Carbon Footprint: comparison chart Lamp Wattage Operation kWh/year CO2 emissions/year Incandescent 100W 12hr./day 400kWh 840 lbs. Fluorescent 30W 12hr./day 113kWh 237 lbs. Halogen 50W 12hr./day 187kWh 393 lbs. HID 300W 12hr./day 800kWh 1,680 lbs. LED 3W 12hr./day 12kWh 26 lbs.

  13. The Retrofit Advantage • Quick install time • Minimal down time of business operations • Cost-efficient • Labor Cost Savings • Tax advantages • Reduce Carbon Footprint

  14. Sample Applications • Street Lighting • Gas Station Lighting • Parking Garage • Parking Lots • Site Lighting • High-bay’s • Low-bay’s • Wall packs • Decorative Fixtures • Historical Fixtures • Security Lighting

  15. Case StudyGas Station: Batavia, Illinois 20 each, 400w HPS fixtures = 9,740 total watts Replaced with 20 each Best-LED retrofit fixtures = total 1,160 watts With Improved light output 12 hours per day, 365 days per year, total hours 4,380 hours per year Current annual kWh = 42,661 New annual kWh = 5,081 Annual kWh saved = 37,580 at $0.10 per kWh Current Energy Costs = $4,266 per year New LED Costs = $ 508 Annual Energy Savings = $3,758 88% Energy Savings!! + No Bugs

  16. Case Study: Parking LotLabor Savings 20 400watt Metal Halide parking lot fixtures were Retrofitted with BestCore™ R48 retrofit board. The average annual energy bill was $4,266. The calculated annual LED energy cost is $508.00. That’s $3,758 or 88% energy savings. 20 NEW LED fixtures were installed in a separate lot. It took 2 electricians 3 days to complete the install. Approximate labor cost: $5,200.00 The 20 BestCore™ boards were retrofitted into the existing canopy fixtures. It took 2 electricians 3 hours to complete the canopy. Approximate labor cost: $600.00 Labor savings: $4,600.00 or 91%

  17. Scotopic vs. PhotopicHow we “see” light Scotopic vision and Photopic vision are different ways the human eye perceives light. Light sources are measured in Lumens. Whereas traditional HID light sources are measured using photopic sensors. LED lighting is measured using Scotopic sensors. So, to compare the Lumens from a traditional MH or HID light source with an LED light source is like comparing apples to oranges. Both fruit, but very different. A traditional 400 watt MH bulb produces about 25,000 Lumens. However, as much of 30-50% of the light is lost at the source, as MH produces light in a 360˚ pattern. LEDs direct the light to the useful source, downward to the ground, usually in a 120˚-160˚ angle, making most of the light “useful”. As LEDs tend to produce less Lumens as traditional HID lighting sources, the actual light perceived is much greater.

  18. Lighting Trends LEDs will continue to surpass other lighting options for an efficient source
