  1. How is Data Science Related to Machine Learning? Today, the myriad of technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning are quite confusing. They all are interrelated to data science. In this blog, we are going to understand how they are connected and why machine learning is important. The blog also covers the learning path to becoming a data scientist in 2020-2021. Data science jobs are high in demand and are the highest-paid too. Did you know that as of 2020, India has over 1 lakh data science jobs vacant? If you’re considering a career in data science, read on till the end to know more! Data Science: Simply put, data science is a process of finding the right data, processing, cleansing, analysing and presenting it in the most comprehensive way possible to a business to help them solve problems and make important decisions. Without data science, all the data that has been accumulated will go unprocessed and waste. Companies will not be able to get the necessary insights that could solve their problems. Data science covers a lot -

  2. A data scientist is responsible for providing valuable insights through data. They work with business owners, stakeholders, investors, analytics teams and others to deliver relevant results. A data scientist’s salary is one of the highest in the world. Machine Learning: A simple example of how machine learning works - you watch a series or movies on Netflix. After a few days, it recommends similar shows or movies based on your watch history. How is it able to do that? Through machine learning. Netflix extracts the data from you when you search or watch shows, stores it and analyses it for the recommendations. It understands what your interests are. What you like or don’t like. Due to large data being produced, it becomes a tedious task for a data scientist to organise and analyse them. So they create complex algorithms and use many techniques like regression, supervised clustering, Bayes method and such to enable machines to learn and process data by themselves without the need for manual intervention. There are three types of algorithms - ● Supervised

  3. ● Unsupervised ● Reinforced or clustered algorithm To do machine learning, you need to have knowledge in - ● Computer programming languages ● Probability ● Statistics ● Model building ● Data evaluation ● Mathematical skills Data Science VS Machine Learning: The difference between data science and machine learning are - ● Data science focuses on presenting and visualising data, where machine learning focuses on learning algorithms, learning from data and experiences. Both can be used together. Let’s take an example to understand better - You want to buy a new laptop. You visit a site. Let’s call it abcd.com. You have never visited this site before. You go on and search for the latest models on abcd.com and browse through some

  4. 20 different laptops of different brands and select maybe 3 of them. Now, below these choices, you may see a recommendation for maybe a better product. How was it able to recommend you as you had visited the site for the first time? Well, the site collects data from millions of other users who made a similar purchase of the same laptop you just did. This is where data science comes in. Collecting and analysing data. On the other hand, creating algorithms from the data collected to recommend a product is where machine learning comes in. ● Data science is a vast subject and machine learning is a part of it. Whereas machine learning only comes in during the data modeling process. It cannot exist without data science. ● Data science helps identify a problem and solve it using various techniques in machine learning and statistical analysis. In machine learning, the problem is already known and helps find an intelligent solution. ● Knowledge of SQL is required in data science whereas, in machine learning, R, Python, JavaScript and such is required more. It is a single step with other steps in data science that are implemented to build models and solve problems, but data science on the other hand is a complete process with multiple steps. ●Machine learning is a subset of AI, whereas data science isn’t. AI is a subset of data science. Which One to Choose - Data Science or Machine Learning? Data science and machine learning go together hand-in-hand. As discussed above, machine learning cannot exist without data science and data science is done better with machine learning. However, if you are looking to master only in one discipline, then you take up data science and go for analytics or predictive analytics. If you are interested in machine learning, then you take data science as a whole subject that comes with machine learning and become a multitasker, multi-skilled professional. There are many companies looking for individuals skilled in R and Python. If you are keen on learning data science, then we have curated a learning path that anyone with computer knowledge can take up. Learning Path for Data Science in (2020 - 2021) Data science training at Learn Digital Academy is one of the best in India and Bangalore. We provide goal-oriented courses to make you industry ready!
