  3. 8 Steps to Prepare Your Car for Painting Declutter Washing Wipe it Clean Check Surface Quality Sanding Removing Rust Tape and Masking Applying Primer

  4. 1. Declutter 2. Washing Remove the items which you don’t wish to paint Wash the car before you start with the painting.

  5. 3. Wipe it Clean 4. Check Surface Quality Use a wax and grease remover to wipe your car clean. Scratches, dents, or rock chips look even worse if painted.

  6. 6. Removing Rust 5. Tape and Masking An automotive tape or painters masking will make a huge difference in the final result. Smallest amount of rust can spread and damage the complete paint.
