1531 patients had documented CD4 count within 3 months of diagnosis from 1st Jan 2006 to 30th May 2010

151/1531 (9.9%) diagnosed after the age of 50; median 54.7 (IQR 51.9-60.6)

753/1531(49%) of cohort presented late with HIV with median CD4 211 cells/mm3 (IQR 83-289)

96/151(63.6%) aged over 50 presented late with median CD4 139.5 (IQR 83-289)

Mortality is higher in those diagnosed over age 50 compared to those under 50- OR 2.62; 95% CI: 1.64-4.20)
