Corporate values tend to be enforced top-down, not bottom-up. Too often, employees find themselves helpless when it comes to holding managers accountable for the companyu2019s values. While company policy should protect benefits and hold management accountable in part for employee happiness, employees also need to start advocating for their needs. No benefit is too small to matter: whether itu2019s working from home or taking allocated vacation time, itu2019s worth advocating for. Workplace culture is more than an employee handbook with a list of values.
