    13. Capsicums In a similar fashion to our cucumber growing, we buy young pepper plants from commercial plant breeders, guaranteeing us healthy plants that are several inches tall when we plant them in our glasshouses. Unlike cucumbers, however, the plants we receive in January will not have ripe peppers for harvesting until April. The plants will then continue giving quality fruit all the way through to November, so there is only one crop a year. Crop Production

    23. At UK Salads, we undertake to follow the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code (ETi) and are members of Sedex. We believe in treating our staff well and, where possible, we accommodate them in our modern, purpose built staff bungalows. We try to re-use materials as much as possible and recycle substantial amounts of our waste. Plant matter from our nursery is sent away for composting. A number of our buildings, not used for food, have been fitted with boxes to encourage local bat populations. We have attained the LEAF Marque for our environmental efforts.
