  2. Becoming: May we work well with honor and in full awe. • In days... • Then weeks... • In nine months... …a new life.

  3. Sometimes special help is needed.

  4. But usually only a little support... is enough.

  5. There is a charge to change: Many areas of research indicate a trend toward the need for aglobalsensebiologically. In other words the need for biologic aggressiveness...

  6. Lions And...

  7. Tigers And...

  8. ...Bears OH MY!

  9. ...for survival is past. We have extinguished species, even cultures. They cannot be brought back. Our way of birth, our mothering of one another and of the planet, shapes the future of the world.

  10. “The Scientification of Love” Nature and nurture...

  11. Scientification?

  12. New research shows the relation of biology to environment is dynamic...

  16. Michelle Odent: “The prerequisite for the replacement of medically controlled childbirth by a biodynamic attitude is a dramatic reduction in the number of obstetricians. The highly trained experts of the future will not have the time to control every birth. They will be at the service of women and midwives. They will appear on demand.”

  19. Oxytocin the love hormone Establishment of maternal behavior: Successful reproduction in mammals demands that mothers become attached to and nourish their offspring immediately after birth. It is also important that non-lactating females do not manifest such nurturing behavior. The same events that affect the uterus and mammary gland at the time of birth also affect the brain. During parturition, there is an increase in concentration of oxytocin in cerebrospinal fluid, and oxytocin acting within the brain plays a major role in establishing maternal behavior.

  20. “Industrialised childbirth also implies a certain style of prenatal care, constantly focusing on potential problems. … it is obvious that repeated prenatal consultations often have spectacular negative effects on the emotional state of pregnant women, planting seeds of doubt. I call that a Nocebo effect. [Therefore] we must also look at studies evaluating the long term consequences of altered emotional states in pregnancy…. • Several of these studies suggest that it is also in the fields of sociability, aggressiveness or—to put it another way -capacity to love, that the emotional states of the pregnant woman may have long term effects. • -Michelle Odent
