This tax includes the County's cost for General Obligation Bonds, Libraries, Paramedics, and the general operation of the County Government. • City & Town Taxes: Municipal governments and school districts are financed in part through real property tax receipts. The total property tax burden depends on the tax rate, the property assessment, and the assessment ratio.

  9. Green Manufacturing Tax Credits • Waste Reductions Manufacturers that reduce their chemical waste, as reported under the Toxics Release Inventory, by 20% or their other wastes by 50% are granted a $650 corporate income tax credit for each 10% reduction. • Industry Credits Eligible firms include: (a) manufacturers whose production inputs are comprised of at least 25% recycled materials; (b) firms that engage in the processing of materials removed from Delaware’s solid waste stream for resale as input to manufacturers; and (c) firms that collect and distribute recycled materials, and/or materials removed from Delaware’s solid waste stream for the purpose of recycling.

  10. Transportation • Water: Port of Wilmington offers year round port service and is located at the mouth of the Christina River, approximately 65 miles from the Atlantic shipping lanes. • Air: Sussex County Airport offers the convenience of excellent transportation as well as prime industrial sites. • Rail: Delaware is served by two Class 1 railroads, Norfolk Southern and CSX. CSX’s main line serves New Castle County with connections to Norfolk Southern and the Port of Wilmington. Norfolk Southern’s main north‐south line extends to Pocomoke, Maryland and provides an alternative connection to Norfolk, Virginia and all southern destinations via the Eastern Shore Railroad’s car float operation at Cape Charles. This is particularly convenient for unusually wide or high loads that cannot be accommodated on other lines due to clearance limitations.
