  1. Troubleshooting QuickBooks POS Card Reader Follow the below steps to fix ​QuickBooks POS not reading card 1. Download the latest QuickBooks card reader configuration data. On your phone, select Settings> Applications > GoPayment > Clear Data. Your data is in the cloud and will redownload. Try using the QuickBooks card reader again. 2. With GoPayment open and the QuickBooks card reader connected, make sure the phone’s volume is all the way up. Because the reader transmits data using audio signals, make sure the following settings are set accordingly. ○ Go to Settings > Sound > Volume on the device and turn the Media volume all the way up. ○ Motorola Droid devices. Depending on the model the Audio Effects setting will need to be on or off. Try both settings: ■ Click Menu > Settings > Sound > Media Audio Effects> Wired Stereo Devices and uncheck Enable Audio Effects.

  2. ■ Click Menu > Settings > Sound > Media Audio Effects> Wired Stereo Devices> check Enable Audio Effects, and set Effects Profile to 3D Stereo ○ Samsung Devices: You may have Mono Audio turned on. This is used when you are using a single headphone, such as a wired headset for your calls. Try turning it on or off: ■ Click Menu > Settings > Accessibility. Uncheck the Mono Audio option. ○ HTC and others: ■ Turn off ​Boom Sound​™ in settings by going to Menu > Settings > ​Boom Sound​™. ■ You may have an audio enhancer called ​Beats Audio​™. Try turning it on or off: ■ Click Menu > Settings > ​Beats Audio​™. Reader or headphones must be plugged in to change this setting. ■ Alternatively you may be able to drag down the notification bar at the end of the screen and tap the slider labeled Beats Audio. 3. Disable Bluetooth on your device. The QuickBooks card reader uses your audio jack and Bluetooth needs to be off for the audio jack to transmit. 4. Make sure your GoPayment app is up to date. Check for updates or, if problems persist, install a new version from the Google Play Store. 5. A memory or caching issue may exist. Clear your cookies, history and cache: Go to Browser or Internet and tap Menu > More > Settings (or Menu > Settings > Privacy and Security) and then tap clear cookies, history and cache. 6. If you haven’t already, try restarting your phone or tablet.

  3. Apple iOS – QuickBooks Card Reader Troubleshooting Follow the written steps below. 1. The QuickBooks card reader needs to click solidly into place. (Don’t worry, you won’t break it.) A large or bulky protective case can prevent your reader from connecting completely. Remove the case and then plug it in to ensure a proper connection; You should feel a mild snap when it’s fully inserted.

  4. 2. With GoPayment open and the QuickBooks card reader connected, make sure the phone’s volume is all the way up. Because the reader transmits data using audio signals, make sure the following settings are set accordingly. ○ Go to Settings > Sounds on the device and turn the Ringer and Alert volume all the way up here. ○ Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and turn GoPayment on. (This step if for iOS 7 & above users Only) ○ Go to Settings > Music >Volume Limit on the device and turn the volume up here. ○ Go to Settings > General > Accessibility on the device. Set Mono Audio​ to OFF. ○ Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your device to disable Bluetooth. The QuickBooks card reader uses your audio jack and Bluetooth needs to be off for the audio jack to transmit. 3. Make sure your GoPayment app is up to date. Check for pending updates or problems persist, install a new version by clicking App Store on your device or by going to the Apple App Store. 4. A memory or caching issue may exist. Clear your cookies, history and cache by going to Settings > Safari and tapping clear cookies, history and data. 5. If you haven’t already, try restarting your phone or iPad.
