  3. Why they are important (this slide helps explain with slide 7)

  4. How they are endangered • Man in the 1840s gold rush made settlements on the homes of grizzly bears. • Man also killed grizzly bears for their meat,fur, and the bears were saw a threat. • Even in California where they were once plentiful.

  5. How can we save them • We can stop using guns when we encounter a bear. • Using bear spray is effective. • If not armed with spray don’t run and don’t use a gun.

  6. Importance to the food chain • Since the bears are omnivorous, they eat plants and meat. • They help keep deer and other populations down. • They love berries.

  7. Do we need them • The answer is yes we do need them. • Man has put to many animals on the extinct list already. • They help us keep the other animals from over population.

  8. Where can we see them • We can see the bears in zoos. • If you want to see them in their natural habitat u can see them in Canada where the could be wild.

  9. The last facts • The grizzly bears stand 8ft tall. • They weigh from 400 to 1500 pounds. • Scientific name is ursus arctos horribillis.
