In fact:

  • disco’s popular with under 14’s only and were split into under 12’s and over 12’s
  • film evenings badly attended
  • sports events very popular

Generally we don’t charge for the outdoor events (except BBQ). All expenses are covered by funding. Opportunity for lots of people to join in.

We do charge a nominal fee for indoor events as spaces are limited, we may need to buy materials, sometimes pay for teachers, and people are then committed.

Consent forms (including for photo’s) for all activities.

Advertising is done locally –

posters in local businesses (about 20)

flyers to scouts, brownies, sports clubs etc,

Barrow Voice, What’s On,

and sometimes in the free newspapers

Tickets with consent form on back are sold at the local High Street news agent.

In conjunction with

  • Tall Ships Trust –

we organised for 2 young

people to go on voyages

  • Detached Youth Workers – 6 of them did some community work and then went on a scuba “try dive”.
  • Also helped sponsor other events for the Youth Group.
