Victimisation

  1. Victimisation

  2. If you’re treated badly as you complain about discrimination or you help someone who has been discriminated against, this is called victimisation.

  3. For example Being dismissed as you’ve complained about age discrimination to your employer or the Anti-Discrimination Board.

  4. This means that you must not be penalised or encounter additional unfair treatment for:  Complaining about treatment that you believe is covered under the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 or  Because somebody thinks you are about to complain or  Because you have helped somebody with a complaint.

  5. How can I tell if I’ve been victimised? First, assure if you have been treated unfairly or discriminated against based on one of the types of discrimination.  Age Carer’s responsibilities  Disability  Homosexuality  Marital or domestic status  Race  Sex  Pregnancy  Transgender

  6. You’re saved against victimisation only when you do one of the following things:  Make a claim or complaint of discrimination under the Equality Act.  Give evidence or information to help someone else who has made a complaint or a claim under the Act.  Do anything else which is corresponding the Act.
