Bodyweight—the fatter you are the greater your risk of developing back pain. Posturewhenstanding—makesureyouhaveaneutralpelvicposition.Standupright,headfacingforward,backstraight,andbalanceyourweightevenlyonbothfeet—keepyourlegsstraight. Posturewhensitting—A goodseatshouldhavegoodbacksupport,armrestsandaswivelbase(for working). Movingthings— remember that it is better for your back to push things across the floor, rather thanpullingthem. Shoes— flat shoes place less of a strain on the back. Driving—itisimportanttohavepropersupportforyourback.Makesurethewingmirrorsareproperlypositionedsoyoudonotneedtotwist. Yourbed—youshouldhaveamattressthatkeepsyouspinestraight,whileatthesametimesup-portingtheweightofyourshouldersandbuttocks.Useapillow,butnotonethatforcesyourneckintoasteepangle.
