  1. What IS IRRO

  2. What is Copywriting • Copywriting is the art and science of strategically crafting and publishing targeted, reader-focused words (“copy”) online that get people to take some form of action.

  3. WHY IRRO? • Registered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, IRRO is exclusively permitted to commence and carry on the copyright business of “reprographic rights in the field of literary works” in India.

  4. HOW IRRO WORKS? • Accepting mandate • Issuing blanket licenses • Distributing license fees • Entering into a bilateral agreement with any foreign copyright society, collecting license fees and distributing these to Indian rights owners as per the distribution scheme.

  5. WHAT IS REPROGRAPHICS? • Reprographics is a blanket term encompassing multiple methods of reproducing content, such as scanning , photography, xerography and digital printing. The term applies to both physical ( hard copy ) and digital ( soft copy ) reproductions of documents and images.

  6. Why Take License? • Enormous volumes of photocopies are made every year by educational institutions, by governments and other public bodies, by industries and associations, and by private individuals. The use of such material protected by copyright should be subject to licensing and/or remuneration.

  7. Limitations-of-IRRO-License • Licensee must own an original and/or copyright fee-paid of any licensed material it copies or scans under the terms and conditions of the license. • Licensee can make copies for the number of students on a course of study as a course pack only, and not copy more than 15% or 1 chapter of any publication per year.
