  1. Tips to Help You Kid Adjust to School

  2. So, your child is a big kid now and is off to school each morning now. However, in place of exuberance that you expected, you are finding that many days, especially the Mondays start with tantrums, tears, and maybe tummy-ache. He’s probably not faking it. Anxiety can affect the body in many ways, and can cause upset stomach, more so in children. At the same time, it is nothing to be worried about. Children often need some extra help to adjust to school routine. • Following are a few tips to help your kid adjust to school:

  3. Facilitate child-teacher bonding • It is important for kids to feel comfortable with an adult to feel safe with them. So, when they are away from their parents at school, they have to transfer their focus to the teacher, else they may get anxious and lose focus towards settling down and learning. If you believe that your child isn’t feeling too good about going to school, you should consider speaking to the teacher as soon as possible. The teachers at IGCSE schools in Mumbai are very supportive and will surely help you.

  4. Facilitate your kid’s bonding with other kids at school • Children need a feeling of bonding with atleast one other child at school. you may ask the teacher whether she has noticed who is your child hanging out with. Ask your kid whom he’d like to invite over for playing. If you child feels uncomfortable about the idea of inviting over other kids, you may invite the other kid and his mom for ice-cream after school. You may also organize a dinner party with the other kid’s family. This is a great way to help your kid bond with the other kids.

  5. Help your kid express his feeling and worries • Most of the time, school anxiety roots from worries that many adults may consider irrational, like the fear you would disappear while they are at school. You need to support your kid to express his feelings and worries that’s bothering him. Empathy is the key here. At the same time, you need to realize that your child is capable of handling his worries. You need to empathize with your kid’s worries, not succumb to them. You may also consider speaking to the teacher at the CBSE schools in Kandivali that your kid goes to.

  6. Calm his fears • It is children’s nature to look up to their parents for reassurance as to what’s dangerous and what is safe. Therefore, while you are empathizing with your kid’s concerns and worries, make sure that you are presenting confidence as well that your kid will be safe as well as happy at school. Explain to your child that it is absolutely normal to feel anxious about new situations, and he can trust his teachers, and they will take care of him. You may let the teachers at the best school in Borivali know in advance about your child’s concerns, so they can handle him better at school.
