  2. EXPORT DOCUMENTATION AND REQUEST FOR PERMIT • Due to distance between the exporter and importer personal rapport is generally impossible. Those in charge of export documentation have to be vary that terms of contract don’t suffer from anomalies. • Foreign languages have to be interacted with as communication is with foreigners. It is necessary to take assistance of language experts deft in the alien language spoken between the parties. • Transport considerations require serious thinking. War and natural calamities superimpose countless difficulties which require export documentation to be flexible enough to overcome them. • Marine insurance requires cautious documentation. • Customs duties are subject to constant change. Export documentation has to keep up with most advanced trends and amendments. • Exchange rates of currency also do not show uniformity or stability. Market conditions and related demand and supply face constant revision. Documentation has to adapt accordingly.

CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN In order to be valid the Certificate of Origin has to be signed by the Exporter and by the local Chamber of Commerce in certain instances require it to be also verified by a Consulate. An International organization ICC World Chambers Federation is making attempts to lay down guidelines and bring uniformity in the procedures. Certificates of Origin can be non-preferential or preferential. Though, the former is more common. Preferential Certificates of Origin relate to trade transactions which are the subject matter of International Treaties. The Certificate of Origin represents the country where the merchandise is built and assembled. In case the goods are manufactured in more than one country. Then, where maximum construction is carried out that country is the country of origin. In the case of trading blocks, Certificate of Origin mention the block rather than a specific country. Determining the origin of goods is necessary because they give statistics for applying tariffs embargo and trade policies. In certain case there is an exemption for submitting this Certificate depending upon factors like destination of goods, their nature and final institution operating in the Export process.

  4. EXPORT DECLARATION NUMBER This provides details about goods which form the subject matter of Export. This is required by the Exporter at the port of Export. Details of the nature and quantity of the goods are submitted to the Customs Department which processes this information and issues an Export Declaration Number (EDN). This provides systematization about the data and a check and verification documents on permissible exports. Sometimes there might be an additional requirement to also submit an export licence or Certificate of Origin. REQUEST FOR PERMIT In certain instances payment has to be made by Exporter to Importer for permission to export valuable products while obtaining permits for the same. An Export permit and a business number are other requirements in many countries. Most countries have specific permits for different items of Export.
