  1. Tips On Effective Landlord-Tenant Communication Consistent communication is the key to a healthy landlord-tenant relationship. Open and direct communication goes a long way in retaining tenants for a long period of time. Simple tips can help to enhance landlord-tenant communication. Have A Professional Attitude Maintain a respectful tone while communicating to the tenant. Be polite and do not have an aggressive body language. Listen carefully to what the tenant has to say and maintain a constant eye contact. Respect The Limits Do not call or visit the tenants at odd hours and expect them to be cordial with you. Always respect boundaries of time and space. Try not to intervene into the tenant’s personal life when it does not affect you in any manner. Hire A Property Manager A property manager can make it easier to communicate with tenants. Property manager acts as a bridge between landlord and tenant. Most of the issues can be resolved at his end without bringing both the parties face-to-face with each other. Be Available Be A Good Listener Always keep the communication lines open and let your tenants know that you are available at all times to discuss any problem. Listen to tenant queries and clarify if you don’t understand what your tenant is trying to say. Patiently listen to your tenant for better communication. Don’t interrupt when the other party is speaking. Always show you are interested in what the other person is saying. Provide immediate feedback for better exchange of words. Be Flexible Every tenant has different requirements and needs to be dealt differently. Change your communication style according to the renter; be it emails, phone calls or other modes of contacting.
