Trails When the pests are able to locate a source of food or ware, they will return to the nest and leave a trail behind that will direct the other pests to the source of food or water. In the case of ants, these trails are known as pheromone trails. Such trails can last longer than the effect of the pesticide. Once the effect of the pesticides is over, these ants will follow the trail once again. Nests survive first treatment It is never an easy task to find all the nests. There are various clues that do point towards the nests but usually some nests manage to survive the first treatment. To be more effective, more than one treatment is necessary.
