Reducer fitting

A Reducer fitting connects pipes of various sizes, with one end of the reducer being larger than the other end. What is a Reducer Fitting? • A Reducer fitting connects pipes of various sizes, with one end of the reducer being larger than the other end. • These ends are called Male and Female threads, the larger and the smaller one respectively. • The fitting acquired its name as the reducer fitting looks like a reducer and an elbow united as one.

  3. Types of Reducer fittings • Concentric – reducer to join pipe sections on the same axis, they are cone-shaped. They are beneficial if cavitation is present and have a common centre line. • Eccentric – reducer to join two pipes of different diameters, their edge parallel to the connecting pipe. The diameter of the upstream side of the fitting is larger than the downstream side, thereby avoiding air bubbles in a pipeline.
