  1. Content Management System A Content management system (CMS) is a software application or set of related programs that are used to create and manage digital content. CMS are typically used for enterprise content management (ECM) and web content management (WCM). ECM:-An ECM facilitates collaboration in the workplace by integrating document management, digital asset management and records retention functionalities, and providing end users with role-based access to the organization's digital assets. WCM:-A WCM facilitates collaborative authoring for websites. ECM software often includes a WCM publishing functionality, but ECM webpages typically remain behind the organization's firewall. CMS is an application that provides capabilities for multiple users with different permission levels to manage content, data or information of a website project, or internet / intranet application. Managing content refers to creating, editing, archiving, publishing, collaborating on, reporting, distributing website content, data and information. The main purpose of a Content Management System is to provide the capability for multiple users with different permission levels to manage a website or a section of the content. For example you can take a website which has Articles, Blogs, Press Releases, Store, Events and assign each section or a part of a section to user(s) to create, edit, and archive.
