  2. What is Art ? Art is a diverse range of human activities involving creative imagination to express technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas. There is no generally agreed definition of what constitutes art, and ideas have changed over time. Art, also called visual art, a visual object or experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination. The term art encompasses diverse media such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, decorative arts, photography, and installation.

What is Abstract Art ? • Abstract art uses visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. • Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.

What is Impressionism Art ? • Impressionism is a 19th-century art movement characterized by relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities, ordinary subject matter, inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. Impressionism originated with a group of Paris-based artists whose indepaendent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870s and 1880s.

  6. What is Pop Art? • Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the United Kingdom and the United States during the mid- to late-1950s. The movement presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, comic books and mundane mass-produced objects. • Pop art is a style of art based on simple, bold images of everyday items, such as soup cans, painted in bright colors.

What is Cubism Art ? • Cubism is an early-20th-century avant-garde art movement that revolutionized European painting and sculpture, and inspired related movements in music, literature and architecture. • The main idea of Cubism is to decompose realistic subjects into geometric shapes to help give them perspective and distinct impressions, this statement is seen as a major precursor to Cubism.

What is Modern Art? • Modern art includes artistic work produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s, and denotes the styles and philosophies of the art produced during that era. The term is usually associated with art in which the traditions of the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of experimentation.

  9. What is Surrealism Art ? • Surrealism was a cultural movement which developed in Europe in the aftermath of World War I and was largely influenced by Dada. The movement is best known for its visual artworks and writings and the juxtaposition of distant realities to activate the unconscious mind through the imagery.

  10. What is Contemporary Art ? • Contemporary art is the art of today, produced in the second half of the 20th century or in the 21st century. Contemporary artists work in a globally influenced, culturally diverse, and technologically advancing world. • Contemporary art is the term used for art of the present day. Usually the artists are alive and still making work.

  11. What is Fantastic Art ?  • Fantastic art is a broad and loosely defined art genre. It is not restricted to a specific school of artists, geographical location or historical period. • Fantasy art is a genre of art that depicts magical or other supernatural themes, ideas, creatures or settings.
