    11. 11 One Prohibition: 1 Timothy 2:12, “And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.” a woman can teach a man, but not “over” (cf. Acts 18:26) a woman can teach “over” women and children

    12. 12 THE SERIOUSNESS OF TEACHING

    13. 13 THE SERIOUSNESS OF TEACHING teaching others is a serious work we must teach God’s word truthfully lest we advocate error stumbling in word is easy we can only teach what we know

    15. 15 Wise Men Teach Wisely James 3:13: “Who is wise and understand-ing among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.” context is of teachers (v. 1) were to look unto the wise to be teachers such a one displays wisdom in his good conduct the religion of Christ is “do” then “teach” (Acts 1:1)

    16. 16 Wise Teachers of Peace James 3:17, 18: “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peace-able, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” characteristics of a wise man/teacher bears righteousness as a fruit and sows it to produce peace

    17. 17 “Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” (Jas. 3:18) these “sowers” are “peacemakers” between God & Man between brother & brother sowing “wrong” mothers strife sowing righteous- ness creates peace

    18. 18 The Nature Of The Kingdom ROMANS 14:17, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

    19. 19 HEBREWS 5:12, “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.” WISE TEACHERS

    20. 20 HEBREWS 5:13, “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.” WISE TEACHERS

    21. 21 THE SHORTAGE OF WISE MEN Psalms 53:2, 3 “God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. Every one of them has turned aside; they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.” Proverbs 1:22 "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge.” Jeremiah 4:22 "For My people are foolish, they have not known Me. They are silly children, And they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge."

    22. 22 HEBREWS 5:14, “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” WISE TEACHERS

    23. 23 Qualifications For Teachers: 2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

    24. 24 Qualities OF GOOD TEACHERS

    25. 25 “PURE” (Jas. 3:17) Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” “. . .pure from fault, not half-good and half-bad” (Robertson’s New Testament Word Pictures)

    26. 26 Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Hebrews 12:14 “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord” “But clearly great as peace is, purity (righteousness) comes before peace and peace at any price is not worth the having. Hence Jesus spurned the devil’s peace of surrender” (Robertson’s NT Word Pictures) “PEACEABLE” (Jas. 3:17)

    27. 27 “GENTLE” (Jas. 3:17) reasonable, fair, equitable 1 Thessalonians 2:7 “But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children.” 2 Timothy 2:24 “And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient” Titus 3:2 “to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.”

    28. 28 “WILLING TO YIELD” (Jas. 3:17) “compliant” (Strong’s 2138) “easy to be entreated” (ASV) “open to reason” (RSV) “approachable” (Robertson’s NT Word Pictures)

    29. 29 “FULL OF MERCY AND GOOD FRUITS” (Jas. 3:17) “not unforgiving and unkind” (Peoples New Testament Notes) we ought to be able to look to the miserable with pity and show good works

    30. 30 WITHOUT PARTIALITY (Jas. 3:17) James 2:4 “have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?” Malachi 2:9 “Therefore I also have made you contemptible and base before all the people, because you have not kept My ways but have shown partiality in the law.” 1 Timothy 5:21 “I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.”

    31. 31 “WITHOUT HYPOCRISY” (Jas. 3:17) John 1:47 “Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Matthew 23:28 “Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

    32. 32 ROMANS 2:21-24 21 You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? 22 You who say, "Do not commit adultery," do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? 24 For ‘the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,’ as it is written.
