Chartered accountants were the first accountants to form

a professional accounting body, initially established in Britain

in 1854. The Edinburgh Society of Accountants (formed

1854), the Glasgow Institute of Accountants and Actuaries

(1854) and the Aberdeen Society of Accountants (1867)

were each granted a royal charter almost from their

inception.The title is an internationally recognized

professional designation.

Chartered accountants work in all fields of business and

finance, including audit, taxation, financial and general

management. Some are engaged in public practice work,

others work in the private sector and some are employed by

government bodies.


A Candidate who has passed the 10th examination, But

they can write the examination only after passing the

Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or waiting for the

10+2 exam results. There are no restrictions with regard

to the age of the candidate or marks secured in Senior

Secondary Examination.

Job Prospects

The growing importance of trade and industry along with the

rapid growth of capital and money markets in an

economically developing nation like ours, has increased the

importance of Chartered Accountants enormously. Moreover

all the companies registered under the Companies Act, are

required to get their accounts audited only by practicing

Chartered Accountants. A qualified Chartered Accountanthas

the option of joining the Government Service, Public Sector

undertakings or taking up a lucrative assignment in the

private sector.


A Chartered Accountant earns an average salary of Rs

613,455 per year.

The average pay for a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is

Rs 610,128 per year.
