Diet restrictions will vary from patient to patient, and can only be decided by the patient himself through personal observation and experience. Doctors who extend whimsical advice don’t know anything about IBS

  6. Sufficient hydration through enough fluid intake will prevent exacerbation of IBS in most patients. In most cases, non-irritating fluids like water or milk will prove most beneficial. Only in lactose intolerant patients should all milk products be avoided.

  7. Milk and yoghurt may be very useful in controlling IBS, except in susceptible persons / lactose intolerant patients (in which case all dairy products are to be avoided). Milk protein will form a protective film to save your gut lining. Its pH (6.5) will control acidity, without causing rebound secretion phenomenon. Unless you have lactose intolerance from childhood, milk is the best safeguard in gastritis, ulcer and IBS.
