Introduction The Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 8140 and the associated Manual 8570 provide a framework for the certification and management of Information Assurance (IA) and Cyber Security workforce. These directives are critical for ensuring that individuals working within the DoD have the necessary skills and qualifications to protect sensitive information and systems. Achieving compliance with DOD 8140 and 8570 is not only a requirement for many positions within the DoD but also a valuable career milestone in the field of Cyber Security. www.eccouncil.org

Department of Defense DOD 8140 DoD 8140, or Department of Defense Directive 8140 in combination with DoDM 8140 and DoDI 8140 collectively provides the directive, instruction, and manual that steers the classification and qualification requirements for individuals working in a cyber security capacity within the United States Department of Defense. www.eccouncil.org

  4. Department of Defense DOD 8570 DoD 8570 has been replaced by DoD 8140. The former 8570 Directive provided similar mandates on qualifying the DoD Cyber Workforce; however, the classification of work roles was based on work role speciality areas as opposed to the individual work role itself.
