  • 300 plant collections at 10 sites (4/9 – 13/10)

  • Database of 4,000 savanna plant records created

  • Draft checklist produced

  • First draft of colour photo-guide created

  • 15 person weeks of botanical training

    • Plant Taxonomy course run at Hillbank

    • Herbarium user course run at ERI

  • ERI Inaugurated January 2010

  • Darwin botanist German Lopez hired 4th January

    • Attended 3 training courses in Belize

    • Attended 4 week training in UK

  • New nationwide mapping of the savanna ecosystem produced from SPOT imagery;

  • First comprehensive database created of savanna collections made in Belize

  • ‘Fledgling’ Darwin Savanna Trail created at Belize Botanic Gardens;

  • Darwin identity used to leverage a further £ 45,000 of funding and donations in kind from other organisations to support this project
