  1. Different Printing Materials and Their Characteristics In printing you cannot take a one size fits all approach because different printing material will work better for different messages and usages. When you think about these materials, the first one that comes to mind is paper and then fabric. However, if you want to know about the commercial application of materials for printing then there is good choice available due to the advancement in printing technology. Paper There are four main types of paper used in commercial printing: Coated paper – This is ideal for photographs, brochures and brochures in which a matte finish is better for text printing and glossy finish for images. Uncoated paper – This paper has a texture like cloth and is good for stationaries, invitations and business cards Natural paper – Natural paper is an eco-friendly paper because it contains around 10-30% recycled material and is made from plants and trees and is best for companies that want to do their bit for the environment. Synthetic paper – this paper is essentially made from plastic and is more durable than natural paper it is also water proof, so is good for outdoor applications Plastic print material Many different materials, such as acrylic and PVC, can be used to create plastic print materials. This is a strong choice with a tonne of possibilities. A wide range of products, including nameplates, phone cases, coasters, and much more, are usually made of plastic. Fabric The best material to use for huge banners and flags is fabric and the ease with which the signs can be folded and transported without causing any damage to the print is one of the best features of employing fabric for large-format printing. There are others in the category of printing material, such as, faux leather, sintra and silicone. However, these turn out to be somewhat expensive and they are also not easily available for all types of applications. However, sometimes it becomes necessary for companies to go off the beaten track and try something novel.
