Formerly the capital of the princely state of Bikaner district, the Bikaner city was founded by Rao Bika in 1486. It's the fifth largest city in Rajasthan. It’s less dominated by tourism than many other Rajasthan cities, though there are many places to visit in Bikaner like Junagarh Fort, Royal palaces.

Bikaner - The desert town of Rajasthan • Formerly the capital of the princely state of Bikaner district, the Bikaner city was founded by Rao Bika in 1486. • It's the fifth largest city in Rajasthan. • It’s less dominated by tourism than many other Rajasthan cities, though there are many places to visit in Bikaner like Junagarh Fort, Royal palaces. • The Royal Family still lives in a suite in Lalgarh Palace, which they have converted into a heritage hotel.

Bikaner - Oasis on the trade route • Though it was in the Thar Desert, Bikaner was considered an oasis on the trade route between Central Asia and the Gujarat coast. • It’s less dominated by tourism than many other Rajasthan cities, which attracts travellers looking to avoid the Jaisalmer hustle. • It has plenty of hotels and busy camel-safari scene, which proves that Bikaner Tourism is also very famous.
