  1. 3 Easy Ways to Clean Hair Out of Your Shower Drain Do you have long hair? Then you know how annoying it is to have your loose strands stuck in the drain and cause a blockage. From using a drain hair remover to manually pulling that gunk out, there many different ways to clean the strands out of the shower drain. It can be tempting to just call someone to do the job, but the truth is, you probably don’t need a plumber to fix this problem. A hair and grease drain openerwill likely do the trick. There are preventative measures you can consider, too. Here are three easy suggestions for cleaning out hair from the shower drain:

  2. 1. Get your old tweezers and use them. If the drain cover is removable, set it aside and grab a pair of tweezers that you can use if you do not want to stick your fingers inside the drain. Tweezers make it easier to pull out the hair that got stuck in there. This may sound gross, but this is absolutely necessary if you want to solve the problem of a sluggish shower drain. It may also help prevent the hair from further going down the drain pipes and causing bigger problems later. Consider setting aside some tweezers meant solely for that job because it’s the hygienic thing to do. You wouldn’t want to use what you’re also using to pluck your eyebrows or for other grooming purposes. Just be sure to keep it with your other cleaning supplies so that it doesn’t get mixed up with your grooming materials. Plucking out hair from the drain is also the first step to proper treatment before pouring in a shower drain cleaner. Leave it to the cleaner to melt away other kinds of debris, including the hair you failed to get. 2. Use a hair and grease drain opener. A chemical drain cleaner can help break down the strands and make your drain free-flowing again. However, it may not be the safest solution for the entire drainage system as well as the pipes. This is why it’s a good idea to look for a specially formulated drain hair remover. Look for a fast-acting shower drain cleaner that can produce results in as fast as 10 minutes, with a 2x stronger concentrate than regular bleach to dissolve even the most stubborn clogs. 3. Be mindful of your habits. A clogged shower drain sure is frustrating. The good news is that you can take steps to prevent this problem in the first place. For starters, consider brushing your hair before showering or washing it so you can catch the loose strands. If you are not washing your hair today, put it up in a bun or a high ponytail, or stuff it inside a shower cap to prevent any loose strands from falling. Is your drain open? Installing a drain catcher is also practical and will help catch hair. Just don’t forget to pick up the hairs and dispose of them in the trash bin, preferably after every shower.
