  3. If you are looking for an easier and much less time consuming way to decorate your roof line with Christmas lights without using clips, here is a step by step instruction on how to make a light-weight Christmas light holder all by yourself.

  4. Material Needed: To create a Christmas light holder at home, the basic supplies you’ll need are a Coroboard 4×8 sheet, sharp knife, Drill with bit, C7 lights in any color and Zip ties.

  5. Step 1: Start the building process by cutting strips of the coroboard of about 5.5 inches wide and 8 feet long (this is the size we have tried, you can have your own choice). After that, cut one side of the board at 2 inches and again at 3.5 inches. However, be cautious not to cut all the way through, although just enough so that it can be folded to form a triangular shape.

  6. Step 2: Make use of the drill to make holes at equal distance from one another and as per the diameter of the sockets that you are using.

  7. Step 3: Take out the light bulbs from each socket and fix them into the coroboard. However, be sure to plug in the strand while working so you can figure out if something is wrong and fix it during the building process only.

  8. Step 4: Fold up the board, once all the sockets are attached. Use zip ties every few feet so as to hold the board together. If you are looking to build longer length Christmas light holder, used some metal pieces and duct tape to attach the right amount of strips together.

  9. Step 5: Once completed, you can fix the light strips with one nail at each end. This will allow you to take them down very easily and will save your time and energy which is the basic idea behind this simple to make Christmas light holder.
