  1. Features and Application of Hybridoma Cells What are Hybridoma Cells? Hybridoma cell (hybridoma) is formed by the fusion of myeloma cells and B cells in the process of preparing monoclonal antibody. Hybrid tumor cells are usually prepared by tumor cell culture. Hybridoma is the combination of two or more cells into a single cell, which can express the function of two nuclei from different sources in the same cell. In short, Hybridoma is a hybrid cell designed in animal cell engineering to produce monoclonal antibodies. It was induced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and immune-mediated B lymphocytes. It could be a hybrid cell with infinite proliferation and single antibody production. Features of Hybridoma Cells The basic principle of hybridoma antibody technology is to maintain the main characteristics of both cells by fusing them.These two types of cells were mouse cells immunized with antigen and mouse myeloma cells. Splenic lymphocytes are characterized by their antibody secretion and ability to grow in selective medium, while mouse myeloma cells can divide and proliferate indefinitely under culture conditions, which is called immortality.Under the effect of the selected culture medium, only the hybrid cells fused by cells and myeloma cells have the ability to continue to proliferate, forming cells with both the function of antibody secretion and the characteristics of maintaining cell permanence. Hybridoma cells can not only proliferate in large quantities but also produce specific antibodies. The monoclonal antibodies produced have strong specificity and high sensitivity and can be prepared in large quantities. Application of Hybridoma Cells After hybridoma sequencing, the corresponding sequence can be obtained. When monoclonal antibody is needed in future projects, the measured gene sequence can be used to prepare recombinant antibody. The problem of cell death or loss of high specificity in the preservation of hybridoma was solved.
