SERVICE CHARGE Dispute RESOLUTION The Service Charge Demand Arrives Step ?:  Happy with the Amount demanded CAN afford to pay the demand CAN'T afford to pay all at once Contact property manager for payment options For Local authority leaseholder consider mandatory & discretionary caps Pay the Demand Step ?: Not Happy with the Amount demanded WITHHOLD Payment PAY demand under protest Risk of forfeiture /termination of lease Property manager may contact and notify mortgage lender Risk of payments are Interest charges, legal fees & debtor collection fees Can still challenge Payability or reasonableness of the service charge at court or the appropriate tribunal Step ?: 2hallenging the demand - 2larify the Issue   QUANTUM: Was it a reasonable decision to incur costs? Are the costs reasonable considering quality of work and/or services? Were the works necessary?
