Assistive Technology Explained According to The IRIS Center for Training Enhancements (2010) presentation, assistive technology is “used to describe any device or service that increases, maintains, or improves the functional performance of an individual with a disability.” (The IRIS Center for Training Enhancements, 2010)

  3. Assistive Technology Law Information The Family Center on Technology and Disability website (2015) states that the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 (Tech. Act) “provides funds to states to support three types of programs: the establishment of assistive technology demonstration centers, information centers, equipment loan facilities, referral services, and other consumer-oriented programs; protection and advocacy services to help people with disabilities and their families, as they attempt to access the services for which they are eligible; federal and state programs to provide low interest loans and other alternative options to help people with disabilities purchase needed assistive technology.” (FCTD, 2015)
