  1. What is the SEO,and why does it matter to your business website?

  2. Search Engine Optimization ( SEO) refers to the process used in sites such as Google , Yahoo, or Bing to improve the location of a website on search engine results pages ( SERPs). • Developing a company SEO strategy will help drive customer traffic to your website, as well as increase your sales and revenue. • To get you started on the development of your SEO strategy, here's a little history to understand how search engines like Google use metrics to rank website placements for organic searches.

  3. A search engine 's aim is to provide impartial results that provide the knowledge that you're searching for as easily and reliably as possible. • To do so, search engines are able to classify and rate all related information online in order of quality and importance. • When search engines rate websites in an organic search there are hundreds of variables involved. • Surprisingly enough, billions of pieces of data can be processed in as quickly as 0.5 seconds! • The steps you take to improve your site will directly influence your SEO score.

  4. Components such as H1 tags, the keywords used in the meta description of your website, content and keyword density, hyperlinks, and back-links are some of the features you can use to boost your rating.

  5. Here's a short overview of these components -H1 tags • These are the bigger headers that you use in titling your content. • For example, the H1 would be the title for this article, "What is the SEO,and why does it matter to your business website?”. • This article page may appear on the Google search results when someone searches for keywords like 'SEO' and 'company' which are present in the H1 tag. • Make sure your H1 tags are important to the keywords for which you want to show up.

  6. Keyword density • This is the number of times the audience's keyword searches for to appear on the website. • Make sure you list your keywords not only in your H1 tags but also in the content body. • Although you always want your keywords included, don't over-saturate your text. • Know, using interchangeable keywords would be considered by Google too.

  7. Meta title, description • This is the description in your < meta > HTML tags which you give to search engines. • The meta description that you use for your website should also include the keywords that you want your target audience to look for.

  8. Permalinks • This applies to permanent links to URLs that are unique to your domain. To be considered for higher ranking on Google, it's helpful to include your keywords in these permalinks. • For example,if you have a gardening website and want your customers to find the keywords "lawn mower,"a page with a permalink like: https:/www.gardening.com/lawn-mower will be ideal for you.

  9. Backlinks • If Forbes references your company on their website and has a link that leads back to your website for their readers, this will be called a backlink. • The more you have these, the better your chances are to rank higher in your keywords. • But the source of your backlinks also plays a ranking role. • Google values consistency and the bigger the source your backlink comes from the better chances you have in your SERPs to be scored higher. • It should be noted that buying backlinks from websites is known as 'black hat SEO' and is not recommended.

  10. Responsive website • Search engines are continuously evolving and updating their algorithm to keep up with the latest technology which is constantly emerging. • With the rise of mobile devices, more and more people are looking on the go. • Google noticed its users' rising web traffic, and rolled out a new update to its search ranking metrics. • If your website is not mobile friendly (responsive, designed to be viewed in different mobile screen sizes),

  12. Google will lower the search rankings for your website. But this will only affect your rankings for smartphone searches. • A non-mobile device such as a desktop computer or laptop will not impact search rankings.

  13. Placing on the first page of a Google search does not occur overnight. • Your SEO strategy has to be an ongoing process. • As technology advances, search engines also adapt to these changes by altering their algorithms which determine how you rank your website. • Keep on top of your plan for SEO, and make sure it's up to date.

  14. Your SEO strategy will go a long way, with proper maintenance for you and your company. • Not only would you have your existing customer base but by being present in the top 5 searches for your keywords you will actively boost traffic to your website. • When looking for important details relating to your business, customers will be able to locate you and your company with ease. • A strong thumb rule for keeping up with your SEO strategy is studying the strategies your rivals use. • Google your own keywords to see who's in the top five searches and then evaluate their websites to see how and why they're in top rankings.
