  2. You are into sports then knee pain is common in sports, especially involves in twisting and usually caused by strain, tendonitis, and sprain. Some of the other knee injuries such as

  3. Cartilage damage A piece of cartilage breaks off and affects the movement of the joint.  It causes the joint catching or locking. 

  4. Runner’s Knee This usually caused by overuse of the knee.  You can notice the symptoms such as  discomfort beneath and soreness or to one side of the knee cap.

  5. How sports people get knee injuries? During an activity, the acute injuries occur immediately. The most common injuries are ACL and MCL sprains.  A sprain is nothing but tearing or stretching a ligament. ACL occurs when an athlete changes the direction suddenly or stops.  MCL injuries often occur in contact sports, and you see when the outside of the knee joint is struck. 

  6. Major Knee Ligaments  ACL means Anterior Cruciate Ligament  LCL means Lateral Collateral Ligament  MCL means Medial Collateral Ligament  PCL means Posterior Cruciate Ligament

  7. Knee ligament damage ACL is one of the four ligaments present in the knee. If you change or stop, the knee will tear immediately or badly landed from a jump.  If it tears your ACL, then you hear a crack or pop at the time of injury. 

  8. Symptoms of a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) such as,  Swelling in the knee  Severe pain in knee area  You can’t move your knee and not able to straighten your leg completely  You can’t able to stress your knee – when you are climbing up or down stairs

Symptoms of MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) injury such as,  Partial tear of the MCL, symptoms are minimal, but athletes feel the pain when pressure is set on MCL  Incomplete tear of the MCL, athletes may feel that knee is unstable when try to change the direction more of a sudden or turn quickly. A definite pain when pressure occurs on MCL  The complete tear of the MCL, people often unable to straighten their knee and there will be a substantial swelling unbalanced and might give out and pain.   10. Symptoms of LCL injury such as, If the ligament is mild sprained you may not have feel the symptoms  Soreness or pain on outside of the knee  Swelling especially the outer part of the knee  Instability of the knee joint  Stiffness in knee joint that cause knee locking

  11. Symptoms of PCL such as,  Swelling occurs more quickly and steadily within hours of injury  Mild to moderate pain in knee that cause slight limp  Difficult to walk Instability means knee feels unstable and may give out 
