  2. 1 Before using any cleaner or solution on your carpet, you should look for colourfastness. Once you are sure that your carpet will not bleed, use appropriate solutions or detergents on it. Test your detergent or solution on a small corner before trying on the full carpet. 

  3. 2 You can apply your stain removal solution and leave it for about half an hour. With a dry cloth blot the stain, do not rub the stained area. Stop if you notice color loss and immediately change the solution. 

  4. 3 Use environmental-friendly cleaning agents. This will help even more if you have pets or kids at home. Environmentally-friendly cleaners are non-toxic and are best for your carpet fabric.

  5. 4 Remember to move around pieces of furniture carefully while cleaning carpets. Be careful with heavy furniture. Stick to carpet cleaning manuals. With regular maintenance, carpets go a long way. Your carpet can last a decade if handled with care.
