  1. Top Tips for Making a Connection Flight

  2. Introduction Flight connections allow one-stop service from almost anywhere to almost anywhere. Today’s tight airline schedules and oversold flights make missing connections almost inevitable. Unless your flying is confined entirely to trips from one big airport to another, you will likely encounter the need to connect from one flight to another. Booking a flight with a lot of connections often means a cheaper. If you travel frequently enough, here are a few tips to help you survive these stressful situations.

  3. Tips to Follow While Traveling in Connection Flights • Avoid the Last Flight of the Day • Fly on a Single Flight Ticket • Pick the Right Hub for Your Flight Connection • Where you sit on the plane matters • Check-in Before Arriving to the Airport • Keep Your Documents Ready

  4. Avoid the Last Flight of the Day Avoid booking the last flight of the day out of your connecting airport. If your original connecting flight is the last of the day, the next flight will obviously require an overnight stay at the connecting hub and arrival a day late. If the flight gets canceled also, then also you will have to stay at the airport for the entire night. Hence when making a lot of connections, get an early start and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.

  5. 2. Fly on a Single Flight Ticket Some travelers book flights on two separate airlines to get lower fares. This is not a good practise. Avoid an itinerary consisting of two separate tickets on separate airlines. If you’re on two separate tickets, your first flight is delayed, and you miss a connection, the second airline treats you as a no-show. It can cancel your reservation and make you buy a new ticket for its next flight. If the separate tickets can be on the same airline.

  6. 3. Pick the Right Hub for Your Flight Connection There are many connection hubs at some of the best airports in the world that you can consider while traveling to different destinations. Some hubs are better than others. Delays at a busy hub can ruin your whole trip. So you should consider what airport you will be connecting in when booking your flights. avoid U.S. hub airports with separate terminals that lack inside-security.

  7. 4. Where you sit on the plane matters If you know you have a tight airport connection, try to get a seat toward the front of the cabin. Download different apps that can help you with the connection process by tracking delays. Even if you have to pay extra with your cheap flight tickets, being near the exit door can shave 5 to 10 minutes off your deplaning time especially on larger planes. The closer to the exit door you all sit on the plane, the faster you’ll reach your next gate.

  8. 5. Check-in Before Arriving to the Airport Nowadays, you have the option to print boarding pass from anywhere. It is not necessary that you should reach the airport to take the boarding pass. Thus you can save a lot of time. if you need to make changes, you'll find shorter lines at the customer service counters and gates past airport security. If you have the boarding pass with you then you need not worry even if you reach a little late at the airport.

  9. 6. Don't Make Tight Connections When you make your online flight booking, don’t accept a connection shorter than two hours for a domestic and three hours for an international flights. Leaving only a half hour between connections is not a good idea. Even if the airline representative assures you it is all right, never take such risks. Flights often take off late, or you may find yourself landing at a large airport where you have to change terminals. In such cases you might find it difficult to pick the next flight.

  10. 7. Keep Your Documents Ready Before you start your flight keep the documents ready. Since you are traveling in a connection flight there might be instances where you have to present your documents. In such cases if the documents are not ready, then you will get into trouble. Especially when switching planes, have your documents like passports and boarding passes easily accessible. It is also advisable not to take last minute airline tickets as you will not get enough time to keep the documents ready.
