  2. Flt-3 is known as a cell surface receptor for cytokine FLT-3 ligand and regulates differentiation, proliferation and survival of hematopoietic progenitor cells and of dendritic cells. Mutations of Flt-3 that cause constitutive kinase activity promote cell proliferation and resistance to apoptosis via the activation of multiple signaling pathways. Mutations happened would lead to cancer such as leukemia. Signaling through FLT-3 is important for lymphocyte development.
