  1. Have Many Applications in Vision Impairments Such As Glaucoma, Cataract, and Diabetic Retinopathy Ophthalmic ultrasound imaging systems are a breakthrough in medical technology. This is because these systems offer a non-invasive and painless way to evaluate one's eye health without having to do any invasive procedures. These systems have many applications in the field of vision care including reducing the patient's dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Studies show that the need for vision correction can be greatly reduced when ultrasound imaging of the eye is used, not as a substitute for glasses or contact lenses but as a complement to these two eye medical tools. Ophthalmic ultrasound imaging systems help to determine if a person's eyes are functioning properly and can prevent serious eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataract, and diabetic retinopathy. According to the study ‘Global causes of blindness and distance vision impairment 1990-2020: a systematic review and meta-analysis’, published in the journal Lancet, in 2015, 2.6 million people were visually impaired because of diabetic retinopathy, and the number is expected to reach 3.2 million in 2020. China, the U.S, the U.K, Italy, and Germany are among the top ten countries with high prevalence of diabetic retinopathy. Since ultrasound technology has been around for quite a while now, the process of using ultrasound waves to evaluate eye health has been perfected. The instrument consists of a series of high- frequency sound waves, which are reflected back into the patient's eye through the cornea and lens. The reflected high-frequency waves are then analyzed by a computer, which converts the data into computer images of the retina and the eye. These high-resolution images are essential in determining eye health and can help to determine whether a patient requires corrective eye surgery or not. Ophthalmic ultrasound imaging systems have many advantages over X-ray technology. Firstly, these systems can easily detect any abnormalities in the patient's eyes without requiring them to wear any special glasses or contacts. Secondly, they can measure the size of the visual fields, which are important factors in diagnosing eye disease. These visual fields are usually smaller than the conventional x-ray images and can reveal a lot about the internal processes of the eye, which cannot be seen with the naked eyes.
