  3. Tankard Engraving  Equipment Here at buyatankard.com we have been selling engraved beer tankards online for over 10 years. We have a state of the art diamond tipped computer controlled engraving machine to create your perfect engraved tankard. The precision servo driven head cuts incredibly smooth details in the pewter surface.

  4. Tankard Engraving placement We will always centralize and evenly space any text on engraved tankards front. The FRONT is the side that faces a right handed drinker. The side that faces away is the BACK. We can have your pewter tankard engraved on both the front and back.  This works really well when there is both text and an image to place. Normally we will have the message on the front and the image on the back facing outwards. Just make a note in the additional comments box and we will do this for you at no extra charge. 

  5. We can place text above and below decorative bands too dependent on the size of the space available. We do regularly get requests for a tankard engraving with the message under the base. This is normally an unfinished surface with a makers stamp so we don’t offer this.

  6. Tankard Engraving Fonts We have 20 fonts to choose from for your engraved pewter tankard. The most popular choices are the elegant and timeless English Script and Lucida Calligraphy that’s very both easy to read, clear and informal. Its possible to preview your tankard engraving message on the website before you place your order so you can be sure it’s just what you had in mind. Note that the engraving will be an outline of each letter, it won’t be solid or filled in like the preview.

  7. Engraved Pewter Tankard Logo’s & images / image library  If you would like your pewter tankard engraved, its possible to upload an image for us to add for you. Images with clear bold outlines work best and upload the largest highest quality images you can for the best result. High quality .JPEG files are okay but any vector formats such as .AI, .CDR. .PDF or.EPS are perfect as normally we can send the image straight to the engraving machine without any editing at all. Its okay to send colour images if that’s all you have and we will remove the colour at our end. Detail is not an issue as we can engrave sub-millimeter detail, but beware, a poor quality images will result in a poor quality engraved tankards.

  8. We have an image library you can choose existing artworks from. They include military and police crests, along with clan crests and occasion specific patterns. As the images are already prepared they are a little cheaper than uploading your own.

  9. Engraved Tankards in glass We have a number of glass tankards available with free text engraving. We use a specialist glass workshop to prepare these for us and it takes longer, about a week.  Tankard engraving on glass is very different. Rather than cutting into the glass a mask is created and the image is sand blasted on. This does mean its possible to add a ‘fill’ or have solid shapes that’s not possible with the pewter.

  10. Engraved Tankard Artworks If you would like to see an artwork of the design before we engrave it, simply tick the box when ordering. We will send a screen shot directly from the engraving software for you to approve the layout before we go ahead.  You can have peace of mind that your engraved beer tankards will be just as you wanted, as we will change the layout until you are happy with it.
