Wire Rope Inspection

Wire ropes are critical to many of our most important equipment and infrastructure assets. Infrastructure Preservation Corporation (IPC) utilizes modern technology in its robotic wire rope inspections without needing to wedge cables apart by peering through steel strands to look for section loss caused by unplanned stresses and corrosion and addresses issues based on their severity.

  1. Wire Rope Inspection Infrastructure Preservation Corporation Save & Reuse Existing Cables Wire ropes are critical to many of our most important equipment and infrastructure assets. Infrastructure Preservation Corporation (IPC) utilizes modern technology in its robotic wire rope inspections without needing to wedge cables apart by peering through steel strands to look for section loss caused by unplanned stresses and corrosion and addresses issues based on their severity. “Providing quantitative condition assessment data to asset owners.” This is a major advancement for the bridge inspection industry as well as other mission critical wire ropes. Wire rope inspections are a part of IPC’s CableScanTM services to provide quantitative condition assessment data to asset owners. >> Watch the video here. Focus on Reliability and Safety Deteriorated suspension and suspender cables on bridges can lead to bridge and roadway failures. It is important to regularly inspect wire ropes beyond the visual manual inspections that have been conducted in the past. IPC performs inspection on the following rope and cable types:  Bridge suspender ropes  Mining cables  Offshore oil rigs  Pipeline support structures Cranes, etc.  IPC’s Wire Rope Inspection

  2. Wire Rope Inspection Infrastructure Preservation Corporation Identifying Rope Deficiencies Inspection Add how it’s done Lubrication (why and how): Halkin uses a lightweight, penetrating, synthetic lubricant. This lubricant penetrates to the inner most wires to preserve and lubricate them while allowing the rope to “breathe”. Tensioning (why and how) Halkin uses hydraulic equipment to tension the ropes to the correct values in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. IPCs robotic inspections identify deficiencies such as:  Wire rope distortion (twisting, strand deterioration, internal failure, protrusions)  Corrosion Deterioration in connections  IPC’s Wire Rope Inspections “Utilizing robotic inspections for faster, more efficient and less expensive inspections than conventional methods.” Infrastructure Preservation Corporation 5520 Rio Vista Drive, Clearwater, FL 33760 www.infrastructurepc.com |727+372-2900 Ext.24, Email: info@infrastructurepc.com Infrastructure Preservation Corporation | www.infrastructurepc.com | 727.372.2900
