  1. Colours and You …

  2. Skin Tone/Complexion • Choosing the right colour that accentuates the beauty of your skin tone is apparently a very difficult task. • Most of us know that wearing those colours that do not fit in our box of comfort would definitely win us some style points , but finding hues that work with your complexion is often easier said than done-with such a wide range of shades on the plate, it’s no mean feat sorting the wheat from the chaff. • If you want to save some time off your shopping rounds or buy more confidently online, then it’s worth acquainting yourself with a few key rules when it comes to knowing the colours that are sure to complement you.

  3. Identifying the right colour family • If your inner wrist is more yellow than blue, you have a warm undertone and if not, a cool undertone. • Warm, earthy tones complement those with warm undertones whereas lighter, softer colours bring out cooler undertones better.

  4. Colours for your skin tone • Fair Skin tone: Darker colours like grey, brown, burgundy, bottle green, navy and bolder shades of blue will all work well as these shades contrast with your skin tone. • Medium Skin Tone: Most of the colours look good with this skin tone, but choosing a shade lighter or darker than the primary colour would do best. Tropical colours such as teal, saffron and dusty rose are advisable. Avoid neon's. • Dark Skin Tone: Earthy tones like peach, coral and jewel tones of blue, olive and purple work best. Avoid extremely bright tones especially during the day.

  5. Confused? • Navy blue, black, white and maroon suit most people irrespective of skin tone, so clothes in these colours can be a part of your wardrobe with no second thought. Neutral colours are another safe option. • Go the natural way by choosing colours that are closer to your skin tone. Example; dark brown or magenta will suit dark-skinned girls while rose pink will suit very fair girls. • No matter what guides say, the ultimate confidence comes from feeling comfortable in your own skin. If you hate bright colours, no amount of coaxing will make you feel beautiful in them. So always pay regard to your personal preferences as well.
