Sustainability in USM Sustainabilitysimply means “to live, learn and grow within our campus community in a manner that protects and strengthens our physical and societal environments such that the students, staff and faculty of future generations can continue to develop and enjoy our campus community.”

  4. What is Sustainability Operations? Sustainability Operation is defined as “operations that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability to meet future needs or the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” Purpose is to maximize student enrollment, reduce cost, and improve employee value by embracing opportunities and managing risks derived from the environment. Why? Because we are at a critical juncture in the evolution of our relationship to the environment; - universities such as USM institutions must take the lead in addressing issues of sustainability.
