  1. PROS & CONS OF AFTERMARKET VS. OEM CAR PARTS If your car has been badly damaged after an accident or if you have been driving it for a while and it is suffering wear and tear, you will possibly need to buy spare Acura car parts. You might think it’s easy to do so. All is done by your repair store, right? But the quality of parts that the vehicle can be fixed with will vary, because if you wish the fix to be paid in full, your auto insurer can also determine the type of parts you will buy. If you buy the parts yourself, generally there are two options you will find available in the market. (1) OEM Parts and (2) Aftermarket Parts. Are you experience trouble making the decision? You don’t know which one is which? Let’s take a look at the differences before you look for “genuine Acura parts”.

  2. Difference Between OEM & Aftermarket Parts The same company that supplies the car manufactures an OEM component. Historically, you could only get OEM parts through registered dealerships. They became the go-to for everyday buyers as well as perfectionists who needed their car to have exact replacement components. In recent years, however, OEM parts have been accessible via other retail stores and through third-party vendors online. An aftermarket component, on the other hand, is a component designed to look and work much as the OEM component but is made by a firm that competes with the producer of the OEM. They are traditionally still sold at brick-and- mortar car parts stores, but because of e-commerce retailers, aftermarket parts grew in popularity in recent times. OEM Pros Easy to Choose – Unlike aftermarket pieces, they can usually come in one shape and are fast and easy to pick. Quality Assurance – The OEM parts are built by the original manufacturers. So, they work exactly like the original parts. Warranty – Most dealerships and car suppliers provide assurances on their components.    Cons Higher Cost – These components would cost significantly more relative to aftermarket parts. Less Availability – These products are sold only by the original manufacturers or by some selected suppliers only.  

  3. AFTERMARKET Pros Lower Cost – Depending on the brand, these components are typically less expensive than OEM parts. Potentially Better Quality – Such components can perform equal to or better than OEM parts. Variety – More variety of components means more specifications and a variety of costs.    Cons Potentially Worse Quality – These pieces might not fit your car as well as the OEM parts sometimes. Extra Option – The increased variety could be daunting and increase your risk of buying the wrong parts. No Guarantee – Some of these pieces, depending on the market, are sold without a warranty.    Final Thoughts At the center of it, OEM products are all made equal, whereas aftermarket parts are not created all equal. The right choice depends on what you need, what you are looking for, and how much you are willing to pay for it. Learn regarding all the benefits and drawbacks, and this will help you make a more educated decision and hopefully get the most out of your purchase.
