  1. Testing your landscape design is an imperative aspect of keeping a manicured lawn or garden. Everything may look sound on paper, but the truth of the matter is, testing it is as essential so as to ensure that your design is not purely aesthetic, but also practical to maintain. The act of testing y landscape design should not overwhelm you. At the very least, work on one section of your landscape at a time. And the question of why you should bother testing your landscaping can be encapsulated in the following benefits below: First, you can see whether your landscape elements and hardscape elements are balanced. You do not want your hardscapes – fountain, chairs, tables and other fixtures – to impede the natural growth of your plants and trees. At the end of the day, what matters most in your outdoor space is the plant life you are taking care of. Second, you can ensure that your investments in both landscape and hardscape elements are being put to good use. At the risk of making a good impression to your neighbors or guests by way of designing your landscape, you need to ensure that these will stay with you for a long period of time. If you want to do landscape design on your own, here are a few tips that beginners can learn from. Start by making a list of your wants and needs as these are 2 very different things you need to consider when designing your garden. Of course, you want it to look nice, but at the same time, your design must be sustainable. Know too what you intend for it to do for you. Do you want your landscape to be a place where your kids can play? Do you want it for planting vegetables and herbs? Is it for gathering friends? Make rough sketches of your yard with your ideas infused in it. When designing your landscape, you do not need a master plan. What you need are just plain ideas. As you are done gathering your thoughts and ideas, inspect the practical aspect of landscape design starting with studying the sun and wind patterns present in your space. It will allow you to arrange your hardscapes and landscapes in the proper spaces. You might want to position your tiny herb garden at the west side part of your patio where it gets lots of sun. On the other hand, you might want to position your chairs and tables for receiving guests in the part of your landscape where it is shaded. When designing your landscape, always start small! What are other tips you can give beginners in landscape design?
