The Sun is in Scorpio.
And which sign is the Moon in?
The Moon is in Taurus.
The exact full moon is Friday, October 26th at 12:53 AM EDT
Scorpions have “two lobster-like claws” and when a scorpion captures its victims with its claws, it “inflicts a disabling sting with its tail”. Scorpios are thought to be rather cunning, and sometimes revengeful.
Scorpio’s glyph, or symbol, looks like a letter M with a tail. The curves show the grounded nature of the sign, ending in an upward-turned arrow, symbolizing the need for action and the striving for something higher. Some believe the symbol represents the male genitals -- the sign of Scorpio is strongly connected to sex.
The myth behind the astrological sign of Scorpio focuses on Artemis, who called on the giant scorpion to destroy Orion. As a giant and son of Poseidon, Orion thought much too highly of himself and forgot to show proper respect to the immortals. He did something that angered Artemis, the worst one to enrage as the goddess of the hunt and of revenge. The scorpion stung Orion, as Artemis commanded, and killed him. Artemis placed the scorpion in the heavens as a reward for serving her. Orion was placed in the heavens as well (since as a son of the gods he could not go to Hades). He can be seen eternally fleeing the poisonous scorpion, Scorpio, across the night sky.
Orion thought much too highly of himself and forgot to show proper respect to the immortals.
What does a Scorpio do when someone wrongs them?
The scorpion stung Orion … and killed him.
The difficulty in mentioning the energy of any particular sign is that each of us has many energies influencing us. One energy is certainly the sun sign we are born in, but there are many other energies. Some of these would be the other astrological elements, our karmic history, our rays, our heritage, etc. And then to confuse the issue more there is the energies of the transiting and progressed planets.
Additionally there is no “best” or “worst” energy.
There is no “good” or “bad” energy - as there are no “good” or “bad” tools - or as, for example, electricity is not “good” or “bad”.
In astrology we refer to the energies associated with the planets, houses, signs, and relationships between them as “non-challenging” or “challenging”.
As the eighth sign of the zodiac, Scorpio represents the eighth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. This stage is concerned with an emotional development that goes beyond Cancerian concern with home and family. Scorpio’s emotional involvement is not based on love or pleasure, but on the control and understanding of human emotions and the role they play in the mysterious process of life and death.
Scorpios are stubborn and impervious to changes not of their own making. However they accomplish many things in life because of their tenacity in sticking with projects when others lose patience and stamina. On the surface they may seem easy-going, congenial, and gregarious but they are also extremely tenacious with a tendency to manipulate and control.
Scorpios react emotionally to everything they experience in life. Before they take physical action, before they sort out the practicality of what they are doing, and before they reason things out intellectually, they express their feelings. Though their emotions are the strongest motivational factor in their behavior, unlike the emotionally oriented Cancerians and Pisceans, Scorpios are not apt to wear their hearts on their sleeves.
The main challenge, as with each of the astrology energies, is to use the energies in a positive way. To think above the belt. To be the enlightened being. To turn the challenging aspects into non-challenging ones.
When a drought occurred in Argos, Amymone called upon the aid of Neptune, who commanded her to strike a rock, from which, when she did, gushed out three crystal streams. But soon a terrible hydra came to live there and a plague spread over the whole countryside. Hercules must now destroy this monster with its nine heads, of which one is immortal. His teacher warns him that conventional methods will not work for destroying one head causes two to grow in its place. The only help he can offer Hercules is to remind him, “We rise by kneeling; we conquer by surrendering; we gain by giving up”.
In the stench of the Lernean swamp, Hercules tracks the foul beast to its lair and is forced to resort to firing arrows, dipped in burning pitch, to draw it out into the open. Provoked, the raging monster attacks Hercules and battle commences—the hydra growing stronger, not weaker, with each assault. Then, recalling his Teacher’s advice, Hercules throws away his weapons, drops to his knees and raises the hydra aloft. In the pure air and sunlight, the monster looses its power and its nine heads drop, lifeless. Then Hercules is able to perceive the mystic head that is immortal. He cuts it off and buries it, still fiercely hissing, beneath a rock.
Scorpio has been described both as a turning point for the individual and in the life of humanity. In the hydra, we have depicted the serpent of desire and all the unredeemed aspects of human nature and in the associated tests and trials are illustrated the formidable problems of self-mastery. Its symbolism is particularly appropriate in our contemporary way of life in the ethos of a consumer society that feeds selfish desire with little regard to the consequences or the pressing material needs of others.
If we aspire to reconnect to the wellspring of spiritual life, we must free ourselves from the prison of clamoring desires. Like Hercules, the disciple must first recognize the existence of the hydra, search for it with patience and finally, with humility, destroy it. The concise reminder, given to Hercules by his Teacher, is revealing: “We rise by kneeling, we conquer by surrendering; we gain by giving up”. As long as Hercules fights the hydra in its own environment, representing the unredeemed aspects of human nature, his task is impossible. When he raises his problems above the slough of the subconscious into the light of that wisdom we call the soul, he can view his dilemma from a new angle of vision, overcome the hydra and bury its immortal head beneath the rock of the will. Rightly controlled and channeled, it now becomes a source of power.
In Scorpio, Hercules becomes the triumphant disciple. He demonstrates to himself that he can rise above the thrall of matter and stand, for all time, in spiritual being. The same test awaits each disciple and humanity, the world disciple. But all who work in Scorpio to overcome the Great Illusion in their own personal lives contribute to the good of the whole and the progress of the group disciple.

A mystic rectangle which includes the Pisces/Virgo Nodal Axis and Saturn in Virgo. Basically, this is the total spectrum of bodily experience meeting the total potential of spiritual experience. The Sun/Saturn Sextile opens the doorway to breaking down the barriers to seeing reality as it is. The sextile from the Moon to the North Node is an invitation to drop into a realization of oneness of all manifest existence.

This aspect should stimulate the con-sciousness of the planet and should encourage spiritual and scientific interests.

In our meditation this evening, let us visualise a common goal for humanity. Groups of men and women of goodwill bonding together to support right-human values. Let us use our magical powers of manifestation, and see this happen. Leaders and ordinary people alike, afire with goodwill and humanitarian vision, acting in concert for the good of mankind as a whole.
Warrior I am, and from the battle I emerge triumphant.
