Do you know about Laparoscopic or open surgery?

A vertical sleeve gastrectomy is surgical weight-loss procedures that can help patients treat obesity. In a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, a large portion of the stomach is removed, and only a small pouch is left behind.<br> The pouch left behind is smaller in size and makes you feel full after eating less food

  1. Do you know about Laparoscopic or open surgery? What is the Laparoscopic surgery? Laparoscopic surgery is also called minimally invasive surgery. It is a modern surgical technique developed to help surgeons perform operations far from the location through small incisions elsewhere in the body. A patient gets many advantages in laparoscopic surgery versus the more common open surgery. Pain and hemorrhaging risks are reduced drastically due to smaller incisions and shorter recovery time. The key element of a laparoscopic surgery is the use of a laparoscope. A laparoscope is a long fiber optic cable system that allows the surgeon to view the affected area by snaking the cable from a distant, to a more easily accessible location. The surgery is performed under anesthesia. Hernia repairs, gastric bypass, bowel resection, and organ removal are carried out laparoscopically at the present. Laparoscopic surgery has replaced open surgery as the preferred treatment option for bariatric surgery and gallbladder removal. How is it performed? A small incision is made near the belly button. Next, the abdomen is filled with CO2 gas. This process helps lift the abdomen away from the internal organs, giving the surgeon a better view. A laparoscope is inserted into the abdomen for observation. It is lit for viewing the organs with precision. Two other small incisions are made in the abdomen so that additional surgical instruments can be used during the surgery. Surgeons sometimes attach a video camera to the laparoscope to get an enlarged view for the entire surgical team to see the procedure. Where can Laparoscopic surgery be used? Most types of intestinal surgeries can be performed using the laparoscopic technique. Surgery for cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, rectal prolapse and severe constipation can be carried out with this technique. Studies have even shown that laparoscopic surgery is safe for certain types of colorectal cancers. Safety: Laparoscopic surgery is very safe. It is safer than the traditional open surgery. At the beginning of a laparoscopic operation, were considered to be unsafe as incisions were made in the medical instruments were inserted. It was believed that excess bleeding and infections may occur. Any intestinal surgery comes with -certain risks like excess bleeding or infectious. The risk of an operation depends on an individual’s general health and other medical conditions. You should discuss with your surgeon before deciding on any surgery. What is an open surgery?

  2. An open surgery is a traditional type of surgery in which a scalpel is used to make incisions. The surgeon then inserts the instruments and conducts the surgery. Open surgery is still preferred even if minimally invasive surgery has become increasingly popular. Advantages: In some cases, repairs cannot be made effectively using minimally invasive techniques. Open surgery provides the visual information required which can be crucial to completely remove tissues in some cases or accurately diagnose a condition. Some surgeries require access to larger areas to insert repair materials. Both open and Laparoscopic surgery have their advantages and disadvantages. We cannot call one technique more efficient than the other.
