A Monument for your Pet

Once you have had some time to grieve, you will probably want to honour their memory. Monuments are an important ritual in commemorating the life and death of humans and with the significant roles our pets play in our lives, it seems fitting that they should have them too.

  2. We all know that along with the wonderful love and joy of having a pet will come the devastation and heartbreak of losing them. No one looks forward to this day or those that will immediately follow.

  3. Once you have had some time to grieve, you will probably want to honour their memory. Monuments are an important ritual in commemorating the life and death of humans and with the significant roles our pets play in our lives, it seems fitting that they should have them too.

  4. Greg Leighton of Pet Monument Stones offers some advice on choosing the right headstone for your pet:

  5. Size and Weight. This is a lasting keepsake and you don’t want to have any regrets. Here are some things to consider when choosing the size of your monument:

  6. Where will you keep it? If you are planning to display it indoors a smaller, lighter version may be more appropriate. If kept outdoors will it be kept at a pet cemetery, in your garden or somewhere else in your yard? Something heavier may work better for the location you have in mind. How much do you want it to blend in or stand out?

  7. How many pets have you had or plan to have in the future? If only one, the size of the tombstone may not matter as much. If the answer is many, you may want to consider a smaller size.

  8. How ‘mobile’ do you want it to be? If you tend to move a lot or simply like to reorganize and move things around you may want to stick with a lighter stone – consider the weight as well as the size before making a decision.

  9. Style. How do you want the monument to look? At Pet Monument Stones we offer three styles to choose from: Granite River Rock-Top Cut, Granite River Rock-Front Cut and Blackstone Boulder-Cross Cut.

  10. Each style comes in various sizes so you can choose the one that best reflects your taste and needs.

  11. Tribute. What do you want on the stone? We can include your pet’s name, a small epitaph, their photo or you can choose one of over 500 clip art photos such as a paw print, heart, etc. that best symbolizes your pet and the relationship you shared.

  12. Guarantee. We know this is an emotional decision and purchase. Take your time to research and make sure you are dealing with a reputable company that guarantees their work. After all, this a tribute that is meant to withstand weather and time.

  13. Mr. Leighton adds that all of their Granite River Rock Stones come with free proofs so you can see how the stone will look and make any changes before it is crafted and shipped.
